Accessibility statement
Last updated 23 June 2026
Festen should be usable by as many people as possible, whatever their abilities, devices, or assistive tools. We make the app and the website as accessible as we can, and we keep improving them. This statement sets out openly what we aim for, what is already in place, and where gaps remain.
Scope
This statement applies to the website at festen.app and to the Festen app. The app is currently available for iOS; an Android version is planned. We update this statement whenever the state of accessibility changes significantly or once the Android version becomes available.
State of accessibility
Festen is in an ongoing process of improving accessibility. We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA as a guideline. A formal, independent audit against this or any other standard has not yet been carried out. This statement therefore deliberately states no audited level of conformance and instead describes the actual state.
Measures in place
- We use sufficient colour contrast and do not rely on colour alone for important information; we pair it with text or shape.
- Money amounts are shown with equal-width figures so numbers stay calm and easy to read.
- Motion can be turned off: if you have reduced motion set in your system, animations are automatically replaced with calm, static displays.
- The app supports light, dark, and system appearance, so you can choose the view that suits you best.
- We use clear, legible type and keep the language plain and concrete.
- Content is marked up in its language (German and English), and the page structure is sensibly organised.
Known limitations
- Festen has not yet been systematically tested with assistive tools such as screen readers. Some content or flows may therefore not yet be fully accessible.
- Because the app and the website are developed continuously, new content may temporarily fall short of the intended state until we have reviewed and improved it.
- We state these points openly, because an honest assessment is worth more than a promise we cannot yet keep.
Report a barrier
If something is hard to use or read, email us at kontakt@festen.app. Please describe briefly where the problem occurs and which device or assistive tool you use. We follow up on every report, get back to you, and fix what we can.
